IVY QUEEN Martha Ivelisse Pesante, better known as Ivy Queen, dabbled in the music worldduring the 80s; making herself well known at a global scale with a musical groupnamed “The Noise”, which she later cowrote her first single, “ Somos Raperos NoDelincuentes,”.Later on, The Queen of Reggaetón left the musical group “The Noise” in order tomake her debut as a solo artist, and in the year 1997 she recorder her first albumtitled “The Original Rude Girl.” Five years later, she released her following album“Diva”. This album sold more than one million copies, ultimately going platinum. ThePlatinum edition of “Diva” was released in 2004, and within that same year shereleased her fourth album titled “REAL”.On October 29, in the year of 2005, the diva released her fifth album titled“Flashbacks”. The following year, she joined forces with legend Don Omar to releasetheir collaborative album “Cosa Nostra: Hip-Hop”. In 2007, “La Caballota” releasedher sixth album, “Sentimiento”. This album was and has been incredibly successful,listing as #4 on the Latin Billboard charts. The first single of the album, “Que Lloren”,reached top ten in the Latin Billboard charts and the single “En Que Fallamos” earneda privileged place as well. The album “Sentimiento” was certified gold due to itsincredible sales and on the 20thof November of the same year, the platinum edition ofthe album became well known to the public, leading it to its platinum certification.In 2010, Ivy Queen released her seventh album, “Drama Queen”, an album of whichstayed in the charts for 5 weeks and even reached #3 on the Latin Billboard charts.Towards the end of 2010, a special edition of “Drama Queen” was released as a CD/DVD set. On August 21st 2012, Ivy Queen released her eight album titled “Musa”, aswell as the single titled “Peligro de Extinción”. Two years later, Ivy released her EP:“Vendetta: First Round”. It consisted of four songs alongside a music video for eachsingle. On February of 2015, the diva released her ninth production titled: “VendettaThe Project”. The Production consisted of 4 different version of her album “Vendetta:First Round”; which were “Vendetta Urban”, “Vendetta Salsa”, “Vendetta Bachata”,and “Vendetta Hip-Hop”. Each album had 8 songs; with that production she was ableto break the parameters and limits, bringing a revolution to the music industry, allwhile showing that being the queen of the urban genre does not impede her frombeing successful with other genres as wellIn 2017, the queen released her single “Amame o Matame” featuring the reggaetónlegend Don Omar. She also released her single “El Lobo del Cuento”, another anthemfor her fans and faithful soldiers across the world. In 2018, Ivy released her single“Por Mi”, which trembled the streets of Los Angeles with a music video that capturedthe Mexican culture in the Californian city. In August of the year 2018, she releasedyet another single titled, “Mi Vecina”, which put her fans in a great state of joy. InFebruary of 2019, she released her EP titled, “ Llego La Queen”, consisting of 7 songsof multiple genres such as: Dance Hall, Hip-Hop, Reggaetón, and so much more. The following month she received the “Lifetime Achievement” award in the inauguralstages of Tu Música Urbano in Puerto Rico. A month later, she was chosen as one ofPeople En Español’s 25 most powerful women of 2019. In May of that same year, sheformed part of one of Barcelona’s most dangerous festivals, “Primavera SoundFestival”.In June 2019, the queen released her single titled, “787”, which placed her in the top40 of the Latin Billboard charts. Later in October, Ivy surprised the world with herlatest single,”LA ROCA”. That same day of the release, Ivy was recognized by“Premios Musa” in their hall of fame for Latin composers. She was the only femaleartist of her genre to make part of that hall of fame, thanks to her talent andextensive musical capacity.Ivy Queen, the queen of Reggaetón, represents women and has demonstrated thatwomen can excel in a male-dominated genre.
